Miriam Kressyn (Kressin) - songwriter, translator, recording star, radio announcer, historian of the Yiddish theater, news analyst, and teacher who left an indelible mark on Yiddish culture of the twentieth century, was born in Białystok, Poland, in 4 of march 1910 in impecunious jewish family, to Yankev and Mashe Kressyn, who already had two sons and four daughters. The daughters had been taken to the United States by their father several years before Miriam was born. He then returned to Poland to be with his wife and sons. With the outbreak of World War I, Kressyn’s mother took her to the town of Orle, near Bialystock, while her father and brothers were recruited to dig ditches for the Polish army. Two of her older sisters also returned to Europe.
In Orle, Kressyn studied with a teacher sent by the secular Yiddish school organization called Tsysho. At age seven or eight, she was caught smuggling leaflets for the socialist Bund to another town. Mark Meador represents clients in high-profile and complex antitrust matters, drawing on his wide-ranging experience working for federal antitrust enforcers and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. His expertise spans antitrust compliance, merger reviews, strategic communications, coalition management, regulatory advocacy, and competition policy counseling.
Mark has led and participated in complex investigations as an antitrust enforcer at both the Federal Trade Commission, in the Bureau of Competition’s Healthcare Division, and in the Transportation, Energy & Agriculture Section of the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. Mark Meador
American attorney
Mark R. Meador is an American lawyer. A member of the Republican Party, he is a nominee to serve on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Early life
Meador graduated from the University of Chicago in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and from the University of Houston Law Center in 2011 with a Juris Doctor degree.[1][2] Meador, a Republican, is a member of the Federalist Society.[1][3]
Career
Meador focuses on antitrust cases, having gained an interest from a class he took at Houston.[2] He worked for a time in the office of the Texas Attorney General and after he graduated from Houston, he worked from 2011 to 2016 with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as an attorney for the bureau of competition division.[2][4] From 2016 to 2019, Meador was in private practice at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.[3][5]
