Mehad Hamad (born May 22, 1963) is an Emirati singer originating from the city of Kalba in the Emirate of Sharjah. Recognized for his proficiency in singing in the Hadhr al-Sahel dialect, he is considered a key figure in Emirati and Bedouin music. Often referred to as "the Emirates' first artist" and "the Emirati Bob Dylan," Hamad began his singing career in 1975, initially focusing on the oud. Hindered by circumstances, he couldn't complete his secondary studies, leading him to engage in multiple jobs. The pivotal point in his artistic journey occurred in 1979 when he embraced instruments beyond the oud and started gaining recognition across the Arabian Peninsula.
Over time, Hamad transitioned to a broader musical style, incorporating popular instruments. Since then, he has released over 90 albums. His repertoire includes compositions dedicated to prominent poets of the Emirates and the Gulf, as well as influential figures like Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Mana Saeed Al Otaiba.
