The weather in Malaysia is characterized by two monsoon regimes, namely the Southwest Monsoon that starts from late May to September, and the Northeast Monsoon from November to March. The Northeast Monsoon brings heavy rain especially to the states on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, west of Sarawak and east of Sabah, while the Southwest Monsoon relatively shows drier weather. The transition period between these two monsoons is known as the inter-monsoon phase.
The word "monsoon" comes from the Arabic word "musim" which means season. Ancient traders traveling through the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea used this word to describe the alternating wind system that blows from the northeast during the winter in the Northern Hemisphere and from the opposite direction, the southwest wind during the summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

Jho Low ‘highly persuasive and convincing’, royal witness testifies in Najib Razak graft trial
PUTRAJAYA: The sister of Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu told the High Court here that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho had left an impression on her with his calm demeanour and intelligence.
Tengku Datuk Rahimah Sultan Mahmud, 59, who testified in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's RM2.28bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) graft trial, said she was introduced to Low by the son-in-law of the late Sarawak Chief Minister Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, Datuk Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree.
During the casual meeting held at Low’s office in the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC), Low shared details about his background, qualifications and business ventures.
"What stood out most was his ability to articulate and clarify his vision and ideas with remarkable clarity, making his presentation highly persuasive and convincing.
"Despite his confidence, he was not pushy, which made his approach even more effective and engaging," the royalty said in her witness statement during examination-in-chief conducted by Naj
