Sudirman Arshad was a Malaysian singer and songwriter.

Sudirman was born 25 May 1954, in Temerloh, Pahang, Malaya. He was one of seven children born to Hj Arshad Hassan and Ramlah Dahlan. He had a sister, Datin Rodziah Arshad.

He initially studied law an the University of Malay, and began a career as a lawyer. He also worked intermittently as a journalist and cartoonist.

His singing career kicked off after winning the Bintang RTM singing competition on 11 August 1976. His career defining moment came after he was awarded winner of the "1989 Asia's #1 Performer" title which he won during the '‘

"Although Sudirman was known as a positive, cheerful and caring person, he struck me as someone who was lonely, sensitive, and affectionate to those he loved.

"Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I understood from my interactions and conversations with him, along with our openness about everything, including personal matters. There was a time when he called me early one morning to express his sadness, and luckily my husband (Mohamed Jusoh) was very understanding of my friendship with Sudirman," she said.

This close bond also made Habsah a confidante to whom Sudirman would pour out his heart and frustrations, inspiring her to create poetic and meaningful lyrics for the singer, who was also known as 'The Singing Lawyer'.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shuib Mohamed Taib, 58, a former creative assistant at Sudirman Productions Sdn Bhd, felt that there was much to be learned from the great entertainer, known as ‘Mr Mann’ among his staff.

Sudirman Said (born 16 April 1963) is the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia on the Working Cabinet from 27 October 2014 to 27 July 2016. He was replaced by Arcandra Tahar in the second cabinet reshuffle. He is known as an anti corruption figure.^[1]^[2]

In 2018, he ran in the Central Java gubernatorial election against incumbent Ganjar Pranowo.^[3]

Education

In 1990, Sudirman completed his studies at the Indonesian State College of Accountancy where he obtained a BSc in accounting. In 1994, he also attended George Washington University and obtained a master's degree in Business Administration. He was then elected as Chairman of the Finance -STAN from 2013 to 2016.^[4]
