1998 - Bishop T.D. Jakes
Bishop TD Jakes, pastor of The Potter’s House church and spiritual shepherd to millions around the world, began his ministry in 1979 in a small West Virginia church. That ministry has now grown into what Christianity Today calls “one of America’s fastest growing mega-churches” and CNN calls “the Smart Church of the 21st Century”.
In 1996, 50 families relocated with the Jakes family from West Virginia to Dallas and founded The Potter’s House Church. Since then, the multiracial nondenominational church has grown to more than 30,000 members, employs almost 400 staff members and has over fifty active outreach ministries. TD Jakes’ passion for helping hurting people shows itself within The Potter’s House ministries, which include Ravens Refuge, a homeless ministry; Operation Rehab, an outreach for prostitutes and the Transformation Treatment Program for drug and alcohol abusers.

A distinguished educator, life strategist, mentor, author, and speaker, Dr. Felisha Ford is a native of Montgomery, AL. She currently resides in Grapevine, Texas with her husband, Bishop Demetrius Ford and their two sons.
She holds postsecondary degrees in counseling and psychology from Alabama A&M University (Bachelor of Arts), Troy University (Master of Arts), and Capella University (Doctor of Philosophy).
Dr. Ford’s professional career includes nearly 20 years of experience as a higher education administrator. She is currently serving as Dean/Interim President at Jakes Divinity School. She is well-versed in guiding students along the path of academic achievement and personal and career development. She has also effectively led teams in the development, execution, and assessment of strategic plans and student success initiatives to increase persistence, retention, and completion rates. Thomas Dexter Jakes (born June 9, 1957) is an American non-denominational Christian evangelical pastor and motivational speaker. He is the senior pastor of The Potter's House, a non-denominational American megachurch in Dallas, Texas. Jakes's church services and Evangelistic sermons are broadcast on The Potter's Touch. He is the author of many books and also produces films.[1]
Early life
Thomas Dexter Jakes was born on June 9, 1957, in South Charleston, West Virginia, and grew up in the Vandalia neighborhood in Charleston, West Virginia.[2]
Career
In 1982, at age 25, Jakes became the pastor of Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith, a storefront church in Smithers, West Virginia, with ten members.[3] In 1988, he joined the denomination Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies founded by Bishop Sherman Watkins.[4] In 1990, Jakes moved to South Charleston, West Virginia, and his congregation grew again, to 300 members. In 1993 he moved to Cross Lanes, West Virginia.[5]
