Monique Gabriela Curnen was born on Sept. 7, 1970, and grew up in Framingham, MA. She was raised by a Puerto Rican mother and German father, both of whom worked in education. Curnen discovered a love for performance in childhood, pursuing said interest alongside her studies at Williams College. Following her graduation in 1991, Curnen worked at the minority cultural center at Connecticut College, after which she moved to New York City to pursue acting full time. It wouldn't be until 2001 when Curnen landed her first screen role: an uncredited part in the romantic comedy "Kate & Leopold" (2001). Her feature credits accumulated rapidly thereafter, with parts in noteworthy films like "Half Nelson" (2006) and "Lady in the Water" (2006) and arcs in television series like "Dexter" (Showtime 2006-2013) reaching the actress.
