Ellie Harrison (born 1979) is a British artist known for her use of large quantities of data, collected through labour-intensive games, trials, systems and experiments, and, more recently, for her activist work campaigning for the re-nationalisation of Britain's railways and founder of Campaign to Bring Back British Rail.[1] She is based in Glasgow, Scotland and in April 2013 was appointed Lecturer (Teaching & Research) in Contemporary Art Practices at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
Early life and education
Brought up in Ealing in west London, Harrison attended Drayton Manor High School until the age of 18.[2] After completing a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at West Thames College in Hounslow, she went on to study Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University from 1998 – 2001 and at Goldsmiths College from 2002 – 2003. Eleanor Harrison (born 17 November 1977) is an English television presenter, best known for co-presenting Countryfile since 2009.
Early life
Born to a father who was a carpenter and a mother a midwife, Harrison grew up in rural Gloucestershire close to Cirencester, where the family grew their own fruit and vegetables and kept chickens. She was educated at Sir William Romney's School, Tetbury,[1] and later Cirencester College for her A-levels.
While at university, she was in a relationship with Nathan Hutchings, son of actor Geoffrey Hutchings. Through his father, Hutchings had contacts in Zimbabwe from the shooting of the Clint Eastwood film White Hunter Black Heart, which allowed the couple to visit the country, where Harrison gained her interest in wildlife. She graduated from King's College London with a degree in Ecology and Geography in 2000.[1]

Ellie grew up on a smallholding in the Cotswolds, where her family raised veg and kept chickens. She says her father thought he was Tom in The Good Life and even made his own yoghurt. Ellie lives in the Cotswolds with her young family today.
Ellie worked on a farm in Zimbabwe when she was younger and went on wildlife trips to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Canada. She won a scholarship from King's College, London, to study Geography with Ecology and did her thesis in Zimbabwe, on development and animal conservation.
Ellie's big dream was to be a country singer, but she took a job as a secretary at Channel 5 and was spotted by a producer, who thought she would make a good kid's TV presenter. She turned the offer down...If Ellie wasn’t a presenter she’d like to run her own wildlife sanctuary.
