Rie Tanaka (田中 理恵, Tanaka Rie, born January 3, 1979)[1] is a Japanese voice actress and singer.[2][3][4] Notable among her numerous roles in anime are Lacus Clyne in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, Chi in Chobits, Hikari Kujou/Shiny Luminous in Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke in Strike Witches and Suigintou in the anime adaptation of Rozen Maiden.[5] In video games, she provides the voice of title character Neptune in the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise, Morrigan Aensland in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Project X Zone, Sesshoin Kiara in Fate/Extra and Fate/Grand Order, Murata Himeko in Honkai Impact 3rd and Himeko in Honkai: Star Rail, Mitsuru Kirijo in Persona 3, Lisa in Genshin Impact and Ciel in Megaman Zero.

Rie Tanaka was born in Wakayama Prefecture in 1987. She began practicing gymnastics at the age of six and grew up as part of a gymnastics family with a father who ran a gymnastics club and a mother who was a gymnast. She became the first Japanese woman to win the Longines Prize for Elegance at the 2010 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. She won the right to compete in the 2012 London Olympics along with her older brother Kazuhito and her younger brother Yusuke, and the trio created a sensation as the first set of three siblings to compete together in gymnastics history. She helped the Japanese team advance to the championship round at two Olympics in a row (the team placed eighth) and placed 16th overall personally.

Tanaka Rie (田中 理恵, born June 11, 1987) is a retired Japanese artistic gymnast. She is the 2012 Japanese National Champion. Her brothers are Tanaka Kazuhito and Tanaka Yusuke, London Olympics silver medalists.

Senior Career[]

Tanaka placed fourth in the all-around at the Japanese Nationals in 2010. She was awarded the Longines Prize for Elegance at the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, where she placed fifth with the Japanese team and 17th in the all-around.

In 2012, Tanaka won the all-around at the Japanese Nationals. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed for the Japanese national team which finished eighth in the Women's artistic team all-around. She also took part in the individual all-around, where she finished 16th.
