Robert Duncan McNeill (born November 9, 1964)[1][2] is an American director, producer, and actor. As an actor, he is best known for his role as Lieutenant Tom Paris on the television series Star Trek: Voyager. He has also served as an executive producer and frequent director of the television series Chuck, Resident Alien, The Gifted, and Turner & Hooch.

McNeill and his first wife, Carol, had three children together before their 2015 divorce.[3]

Duncan McNeill, 1st Baron ColonsayFRSE (20 August 1793 – 31 January 1874) was a Scottish advocate, judge and Tory politician. He was Lord Justice General and Lord President of the Court of Session between 1852 and 1867.
His younger brother was the physician and diplomat Sir John McNeill.[1]
Background and education
McNeill was born on the island of Oronsay in the Inner Hebrides, the son of John McNeill (1767–1846), laird of Colonsay and Oronsay, and his wife Hester (née McNeill).[2] Educated at St Andrew's University where he graduated MA in 1809..
He served his apprenticeship in Edinburgh under Michael Linning WS, based at 6 St James Square.[3] He became a member of the Faculty of Advocates in 1816. He was the presumptive father of philosopher Edmund Montgomery.[4]

Robbie (as he is known to his friends and family) was born in North Carolina and was, as he put it, "a corporate brat," on the move with his family for some years until they finally settled in Atlanta, Georgia. There he got his first taste of acting at the age of twelve by performing in a little theatre production of "The Wizard of Oz."
Robbie found his niche in the theatre, and pursued acting opportunities throughout his adolescence, performing in local community theatre productions and on PBS shows. Eventually, he won a bit part in the Burt Reynolds film, Sharkey's Machine,which was produced on location in Atlanta.After completing high school, Robbie moved to New York City and Broadway, successfully auditioning for the role of "The Boy" for a national touring company of The Fantasticks. Further success was slow to arrive, however, and Robbie enrolled at the Juilliard Conservatory, where he spent two years studying the
