Alumni/ae Fellow Justin Kutcher '98

On Friday, April 24, Hopkins welcomed Justin Kutcher ’98 back to campus as an Alumni/ae Fellow. Justin spoke to the Hopkins community about his journey to becoming a sports broadcaster and play-by-play announcer, a journey that began here at Hopkins. While in the Junior School, Justin submitted a sports review to the Razor, and though that review wasn’t published, he became a sports writer for the school paper by the end of his Hopkins career. Justin told the students that he always knew he loved talking about sports and wanted to find a way to make his passion a career. He never turned down an opportunity to gain experience, whether working at his college TV and radio stations, doing research for other announcers or being flexible enough to drop everything to cover for a peer announcer at the last minute. There were years when Justin made barely enough money to pay rent and buy groceries, but he was committed to follow his dream. His hard work paid off and he now works for FOX Sports, and has had the opportunity to call
