Lauren Keyana "Keke" Palmer is an American actress, singer and television personality. Known for playing leading and character roles in comedy and drama productions, she has received several accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, five NAACP Image Awards, and nominations for a Daytime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Time magazine included her on their list of most influential people in the world in 2019.

Palmer made her acting debut in Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004). She later appeared in the television film The Wool Cap (2004), and had her breakthrough starring in the drama film Akeelah and the Bee (2006). Keke Palmer (born Lauren Keyana Palmer on August 26, 1993) is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for playing the title role in the 2006 film, Akeelah and the Bee.

Palmer made her acting debut in 2004's Barbershop 2: Back in Business, playing the part of the niece of Queen Latifah's character. Between 2004 and 2006, she appeared in episodes of several television series, including Cold Case, Strong Medicine, ER and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and was subsequently cast in two films released in 2006: playing a supporting part in Madea's Family Reunion, and starring as the lead character, Akeelah Anderson, a young girl from South Los Angeles who attempts to win a spelling bee, in Akeelah and the Bee. Akeelah and the Bee was released on April 28, 2006, and Palmer's performance has received several positive notices, including praise from film critic Roger Ebert.

She earned her first taste of national exposure in Barbershop 2: Back in Business, and went on to star in the acclaimed Akeelah and the Bee and the Nickelodeon comedy True Jackson, VP for three seasons. Successfully transitioning to more mature fare, Palmer enjoyed regular roles on the series Masters of Sex, Scream Queens and Berlin Station, before playing a stripper in Hustlers and landing a daytime talk gig with Strahan, Sara and Keke.

Palmer was born Lauren Keyana Palmer on August 26, 1993, in Harvey, Illinois. Palmer began performing at the age of 5, wowing audiences at her church in her hometown of Robbins, Illinois.
