Palazzo Marchi – Image from Wikipedia

Nestled in the heart of Parma, Palazzo Marchi stands as a testament to the city’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Built between 1770 and 1774 by Marquis Scipione Grillo, this 18th-century palace is a magnificent example of neoclassical architecture. Its elegant facade, stucco decorations, and rich artistic collection make it a must-visit for anyone interested in exploring Parma’s historical landmarks. Beyond its architecture, the palace houses important art collections that connect visitors to Parma’s cultural legacy, while its surroundings offer a deeper dive into the city’s history, from its Roman roots to Renaissance and Baroque influences.

Searching for Correggio in Parma

It is the weekend in which the Italian F1 fans celebrate the 100 years of Monza. I was supposed to go there to celebrate with other Ferrari fans and to pray that the team does not screw up the race again with all kinds of technical failures. Alas, being unable to beat the zeal, fervor and passion of the fans, I could not secure any tickets in time to indulge in this grand occasion. I would not be there physically but definitely in spirit. The gathering of Tifosi in Lombardy definitely spiked up the price of accommodation in Milan. Long story short, I ended up in Parma, tasting the best cheese (parmigiano reggiano) and enjoying melon with prosciutto crudo (Parma ham). And a visit would be incomplete without including the admiration of Correggio’s paintings in your itinerary. Wanting to enjoy free entrance, we only entered Parma Cathedral and San Giovanni Evangelista. Please do yourselves a favor and check out the opening hours, because they might be closed for riposo (the so-called siesta). #bucketlistreboot#italy
