Meet Trustee Glaude
One of the nation’s most prominent scholars, Dr. Eddie S. Glaude Jr., is an educator, author, political commentator, and public intellectual who examines the complex dynamics of the American experience. His writings, including Democracy in Black: How Race Still Enslaves the American Soul, In a Shade of Blue: Pragmatism and the Politics of Black America, and his most recent, The New York Times bestseller, Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for our Own, take an exhaustive look at Black communities, the difficulties of race in the United States, and the challenges we face as a democracy. His latest book, We Are The Leaders We Have Been Looking For, is scheduled for release in May 2024.
Glaude is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor in African American Studies at Princeton University. He is also on the Morehouse College Board of Trustees. He frequently appears in the media as an MSNBC contributor on programs like Morning Joe and Deadline Whitehouse with Nicolle Wallace. Glaude is a native of Moss Point, Mississippi.

Eddie Glaude

Eddie S. Glaude Jr. (born September 4, 1968) is an American academic, author, and pundit. He is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University. He chaired Princeton's Center for African American Studies from 2009-2015, and continued in the position from 2015-2023 as it expanded to its current form, the department of African American Studies.[1][2][3]
He has written five books and edited two more books. He has written articles for Time and Huffington Post. He is a contributor to Morning Joe and Deadline: White House on MSNBC.[1]
Early life and education
Glaude was born in Moss Point, Mississippi.[4][5] His father, Eddie Glaude Sr., served as a member of the United States Navy in Vietnam, then worked for the United States Postal Service after returning home. His mother left school during the eighth grade after getting pregnant.
